After reading a Newsweek online article I feel like singing praises to God for Obama’s Potomac VictorieS.  Read this excerpt from www.newsweek.com about last night’s results:

What was surprising, and surely worrisome to the Clinton campaign, was that Obama beat her among women, 58 to 42 percent, and pulled nearly even with her among whites, garnering 48 percent compared to her 51. He also defeated her in two other categories that she has usually dominated: lower-income groups and people without a college degree. All of which shows that Obama succeeded in broadening his coalition.

Amen and Hallelujah! If you pray, pray for Obama to finally defeat the evil twosome that is the Clinton marriage.  I will never declare Obama is God’s choice. But I will say I am a Christian and my choice is Obama.

I am not playing the race card Maryblu.  In case you didn’t notice Barack Obama is ‘black’ as we ‘Americans’ call it. But if you ask me, his skin is a tan brown. 

This country is racist. It has been since its inception. It has tried to either bleach colored people or murder them.  Native Americans, Blacks, Mexicans, etc.

Everyone that supports Barack does it for different reasons, but the bottom line is that we see something in him that gives us hope for a better America. And yes, we see his skin color.

I don’t understand why some folks want to put the past behind. We must live in light of the past, not with hatred for those who have hurt us but with a keen awareness of what them or ‘it’ (racism) is capable of. 

Since the start of the USA, there has been an unspoken and spoken rule that people of color are not to be trusted.  The Indians were ’savages’, black people are thieves and violent. Mexicans are lazy and now, human beings are illegal.  And who has uttered this throughout the history of America? Whites.

It is time for unity Maryblu. Unity among historically misunderstood people. And since the race of power has been the one to victimize, subdue and misunderstand us, we must unite not for retaliation but for equal opportunity of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for people of all colors and not just the dominant majority.

I don’t know about you but I watched American Idol last night…and was inspired. Make fun of me if you want to, but it moves me to see young, unfamous kids, perform their God-given talents before a national audience for the first time.  Jason Castro (my fave) was among the 3 kids that Simon referred to as “You’ve got IT.”  Castro is blessed to have been born with a natural charisma and talent…which brings me to the real reason for my blog…

Obama, ooh baby, he’s got IT!  I have been criticized, questioned and even attacked for my admiration of Barack.  But it’s just like Simon Cowell likes to tell young singers every so often, he’s got IT.

There are some special people in the world that God created with a special essence that moves others to act, to dream, to hope for something better, etc.  Whether He made them singers, artists, teachers (ahem), mothers, actors, preachers, lawyers or…politicians, He kneaded a special thread of…je ne se quoi…specialness??? in them.

I listened to Obama’s 45 minute speech last night and though few of his comments were new to me, it just reminds me of why I support him. He has a God-given charisma that energizes me to believe that America’s future does not have to be as dreary and embarrassing as her past.

I think my next post needs to be an itemized list of all the ’substantial’ reasons I support/love/gush over Obama since every skeptic keeps asking me why? why? why?

Chris Matthews hammered away yesterday at former Austin mayor, Kirk Watson (and current Texas Senator/Obama supporter) asking him to name some of Obama’s legislative accomplishments.  Watson admitted he wasn’t going to able to do that but took the drilling with a grain of salt because I believe he knows that we support Obama for the unprecedented promise that he offers us.  Obama, in my opinion, has enough personal accomplishments to be highly qualified to be my president. What he doesn’t have is dirty, under the water deals so numerous the Clintons cannot possibly hide them all in their closet.

My first grade class and I studied Martin Luther King Jr. during January and now in February we are studying former presidents. My students have heard MLK Jr. speak and now they have heard Obama speak.  Today at dismissal, my little Claudia commented, “Barack Obama reminds me of Martin Luther King.” 

I couldn’t agree more. Legislative accomplishments do not a revolutionary make. Persistence, hope and the lack of willingness to sit idly by while our country continues to be run in the wrong direction, is enough for my vote.
